Using the post method allows you to skip the filling in of the username and password into the textboxes altogether. When you normally login via a browser to a webpage, the sequence of events is something like this: 1.

I don't know if it can be done on a windows machine using these languages, but even if it could be done I think it would be difficult compared to VB or C or some other high level languages.
